Interactive houseplants? Yes, please! Our physical technologist, Adam November, did some R&D on a musical plant concept this week that we just had to share. Using capacitive touch on a Teensy 3.2 microcontroller, the leaves of the Pothos plant can sense human touch. An alligator clip electrically connects the plant and the microcontroller by gripping the plant’s roots on one end and the Teensy on the other. When the microcontroller feels a touch, it plays a tone from a speaker through the onboard DAC on the Teensy. We can't wait to see this develop as Adam continues his R&D!
